Process of editing smoke and mirrors

Updated: Jun 14, 2022

we used an editing programme called wevideo this is an online package which means we can use it in class time and at home. we use this programme on previous video productions and i am confident with the software. I started getting the clips and putting them in order on the timeline and cropping the parts I wanted to use. I followed my storyboard that i had produced in pre production to help me be organised and on schedule for the deadline. the software was easy to use. we upload the thumbnails to the folder and then dragged them onto the timeline we can cut the shots down which adds pace to the trailer, we can also add audio tracks such as music, voice overs and special effects. I produced a rough edit and my classmates produced a peer assessment on it. I listened to their comments and produced a final edit.

I added the clips we filmed to the timeline on wevideo and rearanged the clips and shortend them if they were needed to be. I then started getting sound effects from freesound and added it to the timeline where it would say audio,

and I also found music to add to the trailer, music that sounds like it would be in a trailer, loud music.

There are lots of different websites we can use, bensounds, soundsnap and freesounds. some people have used youtube and downloaded the mp3 from there,

I chose my text from here and put it into a clip and made it say whatever I wanted.

having a look through different fonts on wevideo I chose opensans bold as it fit the genre well and I

chose red from the colour pallete as red is a connotaion of horror and thriller which is our chosen genre.

All together the full editing process was fun, it was a bit difficult because I had to figure some things out, like finding different things to use in we video and learning how to use it, but it was fun. Ive learnt how to use more transitions whilst working on this trailer.
